Heff, Heff & Hydra doing stand up at Bally’s Las Vegas.
Heff 2013 and Heff 1968, that is. Hydra had this standee made for the gathering of Bravo Troop, 7th Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry this week, and there’s a cool story behind it!
Hydra went online and randomly found a site where he could have the standee made from a photo he’d taken back in the day. He put Shindigz customer service on speaker phone for a minute as he walked through the house to find something. I didn’t realize speaker phone was on, and I was singing while I did dishes. Michelle, the customer service rep heard me, and said I had a nice voice. (blush)
Michelle told him that a coworker/friend of hers is always walking around singing too, and has a nice voice. Hydra asked where they were, etc. and they realized that the coworker is my sister, Peg! Too funny! I didn’t recognize the name of the business because my sis talks about working for Shindigz’ parent company. Turns out that Michelle goes karaoke-ing with my sister and we’ll probably meet up for some singing while I’m there.
We all got a kick out of the happy coincidence and how music brought us together. As you can see, we all got a kick out of the standee at the gathering.
Dinner at Battista’s Hole in the Wall with a bunch of vets. A retired Air Force pilot and Major General were at the next table with their wives. The general stood up on a chair and took this photo with my camera. The AF men were stationed in a lot of the same places in Vietnam around the same time and they gave serious kudos to the B/7/17th for the hard work they did in helicopters.
Hydra rocking out with a heart felt rendition of “We Gotta Get Outta This Place” back at the hospitality suite at Bally’s.
We are able to be the only progressives in a room and still get along. It’s good to remember that more brings us together than separates us.
