U-Pick Photography#1


The mighty Los Angeles River from Pass Avenue, 7:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013.

It’s not all this channeled and paved, but a lot of it has been controlled in this way because it used to be a shallow river that flooded fairly often.  There’s probably some great farmland under the buildings on either side.  (Think of the Nile.)


The two shots were taken about a foot apart, but they have a very different impact, I think.

What do you think?  Do you like one more than the other, and if you do, why?

    Why? ummm…Somehow (for me, anyway) the bars add to the sense of something being closed in, manipulated. (Captured?) Plus, I guess, the fact that it seems as if pictures I take always look better with something in the foreground.

    I agree about #2, and for the same reasons as Kitty, even though it makes me feel uncomfortable.
