Dark Eyed Junco

This is the reason I decided to sit by the library window with my camera during my work week.  The elusive dark eyed junco.  Love it when they arrive for the winter, usually, in late October. They are very shy.

That’s a standard garden hose to the right, for perspective.

I love these. We have zillions of them year-round – my feeder buddies.

So pretty. Usually the juncos arrive here in Jan. We get the yellow-eyed one. It has the softest, gentle shades of gray …changing from light to dark along the body. I think of them as Christmas card models. What a great window on your world you have!
